Dr. Ornouma Sriwanishvipat

Dr. Ornouma Sriwanishvipat (Thai: อรอุมา ศรีวานิชวิพัฒน์) works at Yanhee International Hospital in Bangkok as an otolaryngologist, the medical term for a surgeon who treats disorders of the ear, nose and throat (ENT). Her English-language Yanhee profile names four specialties: otolaryngology, voice surgery, snoring, and nose and sinus surgery. Yanhee's Pride Center, which runs the hospital's gender-affirming programme, places her on its male-to-female (MTF) team and on its female-to-male (FTM) team as the ENT specialist for voice change. That listing is the reason she appears on our site under gender-affirming surgery, linked to voice feminization and voice masculinization.

If you are comparing the doctors on the Pride Center team, note that she is not a plastic surgeon. Operations that change pitch work on the vocal folds inside the larynx, which lies in ENT territory, and the branch of ENT that concentrates on the voice is called laryngology. Her published training follows that route: a medical degree and otolaryngology training at Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, and then a laryngology (voice surgery) fellowship in Portland, Oregon, in the United States. It also explains why the Thai plastic surgery society (ThPRS) does not include her. Her professional body is the Royal College of Otolaryngologists–Head & Neck Surgeons of Thailand, usually shortened to RCOT, and a search of RCOT's online member list in September 2026 returned her name.

Yanhee links its voice change service closely to her. The hospital's voice change surgery page points readers to her personal website for more detail, and in September 2026 the Thai-language doctor directory showed her as the only doctor under Yanhee's Voice Change Center. This section draws on Dr. Ornouma's English and Thai profiles on the Yanhee website and on her own professional website. Where the English and Thai Yanhee pages disagree on a year, we show both rather than picking one without comment.

Medical degree and ENT training in Bangkok. Her Doctor of Medicine is from Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University. The English profile and her website date it 1995; on the Thai profile it appears as 2539 in the Buddhist calendar, equal to 1996. Mahidol University also appears for a Diploma in Clinical Science, dated 1998. Her specialty training in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery took place at Ramathibodi and carries the year 2000, and the English profile then lists a Fellowship in Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery at Ramathibodi in 2002.

Thai specialist diploma. Only the Thai profile mentions a วุฒิบัตร (diploma) in otolaryngology, สาขาโสต ศอ นาสิกวิทยา, dated 2545 (2002). Our research records it as her specialist board qualification, although the profile does not say which body awarded it. It shares its year with the Ramathibodi fellowship on the English profile, so the two lines may describe one qualification in two languages.

Laryngology (voice surgery) fellowship in the United States. In 2004 she completed a Fellowship in Laryngology (Voice Surgery) in Portland, Oregon. The profile gives the city but not the institution. For a patient weighing voice feminization or voice masculinization, this is the entry that matters most, because laryngology is the part of ENT concerned with the vocal folds and the voice box.

Later courses and congresses. Her profiles go on to list further training and meetings. Several are attendance certificates rather than qualifications, and we reproduce them as the hospital presents them:

Two threads run through this list. The laryngology fellowship, the 2008 vocal fold course and the 2019 laryngology meeting belong with her voice surgery. The sleep-study course and the rhinology meeting belong with her snoring and nose-and-sinus work, which her website also presents as core areas of practice.

According to her English Yanhee profile, Dr. Ornouma has been an otolaryngologist at Yanhee International Hospital since 2002, the same year as her Ramathibodi fellowship. Our research turned up no second workplace for her. Searches under her English and Thai names turned up Yanhee pages, her own website and third-party directories, and we do not rely on directories to establish where a doctor practises.

Within Yanhee her name appears in three places:

• ENT Center (ศูนย์หู คอ จมูก on the Thai site). This is her home department as an otolaryngologist; her own website also gives Yanhee's ENT department as her office.
• Voice Change and Snoring Center (ศูนย์เปลี่ยนเสียงและนอนกรน), the grouping on her Thai profile that brings the two main strands of her work together.
• Yanhee Pride Center, Yanhee's unit for transgender patients, which lists her on both its MTF and FTM teams as the ENT specialist for voice change.

Besides MTF and FTM surgery, the Pride Center names psychiatric consultation, hormone treatment, planning of surgery and aftercare among the services it provides. Its team page also lists the doctors who handle other steps of transition: Dr. Suthat Koonnawarote for facial feminization, Dr. Worapon Ratanalert for MTF gender reassignment surgery, Dr. Sukit Warathamrong for FTM gender reassignment surgery, Dr. Chokchai Amornsawadwattana for breast augmentation and for top surgery, and Dr. Boonchai Thanyalakpark for hysterectomy on the FTM team. When voice surgery is one part of a longer plan, having these colleagues under one roof may simplify coordination. Whether operations are combined or staged, and in which order, remains a clinical decision for the surgeons concerned.

Case figures. Her Thai-language Yanhee profile publishes cumulative case totals for voice surgery, snoring surgery and nose surgery. These are the hospital's own figures, we could not verify them, and they do not separate gender-affirming voice operations from voice surgery done for other reasons, so we leave them out. Our voice feminization guide recommends asking a surgeon how many voice feminization procedures they perform each year; with Dr. Ornouma, ask about pitch-raising or pitch-lowering operations specifically, not voice surgery overall.

Publications. PubMed author searches under Sriwanishvipat, Srivanishvipat and Sriwanichvipat returned no records at the time of our check, so no publications are listed for her.

Dr. Ornouma's connection with voice change rests on two official sources. The Yanhee Pride Center lists her for voice change on its MTF and FTM teams, and Yanhee's voice change surgery page sends readers to her website. That website describes voice change surgery in both directions: correcting a low pitch for people who want a more feminine voice, and correcting a high pitch for men, including trans men, who want a more masculine one. These two are the only procedures in our catalogue that we link to her.

Voice feminization: what patients should know

The general aim of voice feminization is a higher speaking pitch. As our voice feminization guide explains, oestrogen cannot undo changes that testosterone has already made to the vocal folds, which is why many trans women find their pitch unchanged by hormone therapy. Listeners judge a voice as feminine by its resonance, intonation and speech patterns as well as its pitch, and an operation alters pitch alone. That is why most people begin with speech-language therapy, and usually keep it up after any operation.

Points to raise with Dr. Ornouma in particular:

• Which operation she uses is not documented. In general terms, our guide describes two approaches. Glottoplasty shortens the vibrating length of the vocal folds working through the mouth, so there is no scar on the neck. Cricothyroid approximation tightens the vocal folds through an incision in the neck, and the rise in pitch it produces can fade over time. The material we reviewed from Dr. Ornouma explains what her surgery aims for, not which technique she performs, so ask what she would propose for you, her reasons, and whether a visible scar is involved.
• The Adam's apple. Her website states that, in trans women, her voice change surgery also makes the Adam's apple less prominent. That describes an effect of the voice operation. No official page lists her for a separate tracheal shave (chondrolaryngoplasty), although Yanhee offers Adam's apple shaving as a hospital service, and according to our general guide a tracheal shave is often paired with glottoplasty at the patient's request. If neck contour matters to you, ask whether her operation deals with it or whether a separate tracheal shave would be arranged with another Yanhee surgeon.
• Recovery. As general guidance, strict voice rest commonly lasts about a week after feminizing voice surgery. Speaking is then reintroduced step by step, and the voice may sound hoarse or weak at first while it goes on settling for weeks to months. Ask how she manages the return to speech and whether therapy afterwards is part of her plan.
• Limits. Our guide sets out the possible outcomes: the pitch may rise less than hoped, loudness or range may drop, the voice may turn hoarse or rough, and in rare cases swallowing or breathing is affected. Singing may change. No surgeon can promise a particular pitch, so ask her what a realistic result is for your voice.

Voice masculinization: what patients should know

Our complete voice masculinization guide has not been published yet, so this part stays brief and gives no figures. Dr. Ornouma's website describes surgery to correct a high pitch for men and trans men who want a more masculine voice, and the Pride Center lists her for voice change on its FTM team.

When you consult her about lowering your pitch:

• Tell her whether you take testosterone, how long you have taken it, and how your voice has responded so far.
• Ask which operation she suggests, what degree of change is realistic for you, and how long voice rest lasts afterwards.
• Ask whether voice therapy is part of her plan and who would provide it.
• Ask how long she wants you to remain in Bangkok, since we do not yet publish a typical stay for voice masculinization.

Her wider ENT practice

Voice change is one part of a broader ENT practice. Her Yanhee profile and website also list snoring and sleep apnea and nose and sinus surgery, and her website has pages on the pillar procedure, somnoplasty, uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, septoplasty, myringoplasty and laryngoscopy. These are functional ENT treatments, not cosmetic or gender-affirming surgery, so they fall outside our procedure catalogue. She is not listed for cosmetic nose reshaping, which Yanhee offers separately among its cosmetic services. If snoring or blocked nasal breathing also troubles you, mention it in the same message, and Yanhee can route that question to the right clinic.

At the consultation Dr. Ornouma assesses your voice and decides whether an operation is suitable for you, so arrive with a clear goal and your history to hand. The questions below are shaped around what is, and is not, documented about her practice.

About your voice and the plan

• What procedure do you have in mind for me, and what does the day of surgery involve?
• What pitch change is realistic in my case, and how will you record my voice before and after so we can compare?
• Your website has a page on laryngoscopy, the examination of the voice box with a scope. Will you look at my vocal folds before deciding, and may I have a copy of what you find?

Yanhee International Hospital (โรงพยาบาลยันฮี) is a private hospital at number 454 on Charansanitwong Road, Bang Phlat, in Bangkok's 10700 postcode area. Joint Commission International has accredited Yanhee under its Hospital Program; the JCI certificate Yanhee publishes is dated 13 March 2026 with an expiry of 12 March 2029. How Yanhee's overseas-patient services apply to a voice operation

Yanhee publishes a range of services for patients travelling from abroad. Here is how the relevant ones fit a trip for voice surgery:

• Before you fly. Yanhee will look at your case before you travel through a free online pre-assessment, read by one of its international coordinators. For voice surgery, include the therapy and laryngoscopy reports listed further down this page so that review has something concrete to work from.
• Your first day at Yanhee. Registration for visitors from abroad happens at Yanhee's International Counter, located on the first floor. From then on a hospital interpreter stays with you, taking you through registration and on to each department you need, and Yanhee makes no extra charge for this. The hospital also places English-speaking coordinators and staff at strategic points.
• During voice rest. Admitted patients get a daily visit from Yanhee's international liaison staff, which gives you a regular contact while you write rather than talk.
• Getting around. Paid transport can be booked through the hospital for the airport run and for trips between your hotel and Yanhee. The hospital also has partner hotels that offer reduced rates to guests who book through a Yanhee package.
• If treatment takes longer. For admitted patients who need to stay on for treatment, the hospital helps with extending a visa.
• Paying. Yanhee takes payment in cash (major currencies), by bank transfer, or on a credit or debit card.
• Leaving. Three papers go home with you: a discharge summary of your treatment, a medical certificate, and confirmation that you are fit to fly.
• Once you are home. Aftercare is coordinated by email, and the doctor receives photo updates from you. A photo shows little about a voice, so ask Dr. Ornouma's team whether audio recordings would be more useful for her.

Planning around voice rest

The main practical difference with voice surgery is that you may be unable to speak for several days. Our voice feminization guide suggests bringing a notepad or a notes app so you can write messages during voice rest. The interpreter and liaison staff can help pass those messages on, but the conversation will be on paper or on screen.

As general guidance for voice feminization, our guide gives these planning figures: the operation is usually under general anaesthesia, the hospital stay is 0 to 1 nights, and time in Thailand is commonly around 7 to 10 days, which lets you stay for the follow-up check once voice rest ends. Your own plan depends on the operation she proposes and your recovery. We do not yet publish a typical stay for voice masculinization, so ask Dr. Ornouma's team before you commit to flights. Either way, choose a return flight you can change, since the decision on when you may fly home is the surgeon's.

Dr. Ornouma's Yanhee profile gives Thai and English as her languages. Which languages Yanhee's interpreters work in is not stated in the material we reviewed, so if neither English nor Thai suits you, name your preferred language on the request form.

Voice surgery is planned mainly from your history and an examination of the voice box, not from photographs. The more of the following you can share beforehand, the more specific Yanhee's first reply is likely to be.

• Your goal in your own words. Do you want a higher or a lower voice? What bothers you most about how you sound now? Do you sing, or rely on your voice for work?
• Voice therapy so far. How many months of speech-language therapy you have had, what you practised, what changed, and any report or assessment from your therapist.
• Hormone history. Whether you take oestrogen, anti-androgens or testosterone, the date you started, and any change you have noticed in your voice.
• Earlier examinations. Reports from any previous laryngoscopy or voice assessment, and video recordings if you have them.
• Earlier operations. Any previous voice surgery, tracheal shave, thyroid, neck or airway surgery, and any difficulty you have had with breathing tubes or anaesthesia.
• Health background. Any long-term illness, the prescription medicines and supplements you take, known allergies, and your smoking or vaping habits. Mention any diagnosis of sleep apnea or heavy snoring, which is also part of her practice.
• A short voice recording, if requested. Ask our patient team whether Dr. Ornouma would like one; if so, a minute of reading a passage aloud followed by some natural speech is an easy place to begin.
• Neck photos, only where relevant. If a prominent Adam's apple is part of your concern, a front view and a side view of your neck in good light help show what you mean.
• Travel details. Your intended dates and how flexible they are, your name as it appears in your passport, the language you prefer, and whether you are planning other procedures at Yanhee on the same trip.
