Bangkok is Thailand's capital and its largest centre for private hospital care. Most international patients coming to Thailand for cosmetic, plastic or gender-affirming surgery start their search here, because of the number of private hospitals with international patient departments and the direct flight connections.
PhuketPhuket
Phuket is Thailand's largest island and a major international destination with private hospitals that run international patient services. Some patients choose it to combine surgery with a quieter recovery setting, but recovery rules still apply: no swimming or strong sun until your surgeon allows it.
Chiang MaiChiang Mai
Chiang Mai is northern Thailand's main city, with university and private hospitals and a slower pace that some patients find restful for recovery. The cool season is pleasant, but air quality in the dry smoky season, roughly February to April, is worth planning around.
ChonburiPattaya & Chonburi
Pattaya and the wider Chonburi province lie on the eastern seaboard, around two hours by road from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport. Private hospitals here serve a large international community, and some patients combine easy access from Bangkok with a seaside recovery.
SongkhlaSongkhla & Hat Yai
Hat Yai is the commercial hub of Songkhla province in southern Thailand, with private hospitals and a major university hospital serving patients from the south and from neighbouring countries. It is convenient for travellers from Malaysia and Singapore. Check your government's travel advice before booking, as some advise against travel to certain districts near the southern border.
Prachuap Khiri KhanHua Hin
Hua Hin is a long-established beach resort on the Gulf of Thailand, about 200 km from Bangkok, with private hospitals that offer surgery, including cosmetic and plastic surgery. It is reached from Bangkok by road or rail. Recovery rules still apply: no swimming or strong sun until your surgeon allows it.
Surat ThaniKoh Samui
Koh Samui is one of Thailand's largest islands, in the Gulf of Thailand. Some hospitals on the island list plastic surgery and aesthetic services, and private hospital care there includes international patient services. It has its own airport with several flights a day from Bangkok, and its wettest months come later than Phuket's, roughly October to December.
