Dr. Akkrarash Vongjirad

Dr. Akkrarash Vongjirad (Thai: นพ.อัครรัช วงษ์จิราษฎร์) is a plastic surgeon listed as a doctor of the Hair Transplant Center (ศูนย์ปลูกผม) at Yanhee International Hospital, the private hospital on Charansanitwong Road in Bangkok. The hospital's Thai-language profile of him gives the centre as his area of expertise and lists two fields of treatment experience: permanent hair transplant surgery (ผ่าตัดปลูกผมถาวร) and the treatment of hair and scalp disorders (รักษาโรคของเส้นผมและหนังศีรษะ).

His published qualifications are a Doctor of Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University (1998), a Thai specialist diploma (วุฒิบัตร) in surgery (2012) and a second diploma in plastic surgery (2016). His name is also on the membership register of the Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Thailand (ThPRS), which we opened and checked ourselves.

For anyone weighing up a hair transplant in Thailand, two of those facts are practical ones. Our guide advises choosing a clinic where a licensed doctor performs or directly supervises the procedure; Dr. Akkrarash is one of two doctors Yanhee names for its hair transplant centre, and both hold a Thai plastic surgery diploma according to their profiles. The centre sits inside a hospital that appears in Joint Commission International's directory of accredited organisations (Hospital Program), with a certificate on Yanhee's site dated to expire on 12 March 2029. Neither fact says anything about individual results, which depend on your hair, your donor area and the plan agreed with him.

One point of orientation for international patients: Dr. Akkrarash is profiled only on Yanhee's Thai-language website. He is not on the hospital's English "Find a Doctor" list, so a search of the English site will not bring him up. What this page says about him personally comes from his Thai Yanhee profile, the Thai Hair Transplant Center page and his ThPRS entry, all checked on 27 September 2026; facts about the hospital come from Yanhee's own English pages and the JCI directory. Yanhee gives these years in the Thai Buddhist calendar; the Western years in brackets are direct conversions. The profile names the specialty and year of each diploma but not the body that awarded it or the hospital where the residency training took place, and its section for post-graduate study (การศึกษาหลังปริญญา) is empty. No fellowship, overseas course or dedicated hair-restoration training is published for him, so we do not list one. If formal training in hair restoration surgery weighs in your decision, ask him about it at the consultation.

Professional memberships. ThPRS, the Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Thailand, carries an entry for him dated 2019, and that is the one membership we confirmed at the source. His Yanhee profile adds three more: the Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons of Thailand (ThSAPS), the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand and the Medical Council of Thailand. We have not confirmed those with the organisations themselves (ThSAPS, for one, publishes no member list), so they are reported here as the hospital states them.

Licence. The ThPRS entry gives his medical licence number as 23003. Our researchers have not yet looked that number up in the Medical Council of Thailand register, because the register search could not be completed during our research session. You can run the check yourself on the council's register at checkmd.tmc.or.th before you commit to treatment.

Some medical-travel directories list further affiliations, roles and procedure interests for him, sometimes under a different spelling of his name. We could not confirm those statements on an official hospital or society page, so they are not part of this profile.

Yanhee's Thai Hair Transplant Center page lists Dr. Akkrarash among the centre's doctors (แพทย์ประจำศูนย์ปลูกผม Hair Transplant), and his individual profile places him in the same centre. The hospital does not publish when he joined, and we found no other current or former appointment on an official page. For that reason this profile gives no length of service and no case numbers.

His Thai profile lists appointment hours on Thursday and Sunday, 09.00–16.00. Whether surgery is scheduled on the same days is not published, and schedules change, so use these hours as a guide when you suggest dates and let our patient team confirm the actual appointment with the hospital.

The centre sits within a much larger hospital. Yanhee describes itself as a private hospital founded in 1984 with 400 beds, running separate centres for cosmetic surgery, breast surgery, jaw surgery, gender-affirming care (the Pride Center) and skin treatments, among others. Within the Hair Transplant Center, the Thai directory also lists Dr. Kulakarn Amonpattana, whose profile likewise states a Thai plastic surgery diploma. A request made in Dr. Akkrarash's name is passed on in his name; if his days do not suit you, our team can tell you what else the centre can offer.

Dr. Akkrarash's official profile names one surgical procedure, permanent hair transplant surgery, together with the wider field of hair and scalp disorders. Below, what is documented about him is kept apart from general guidance about the procedure.

Permanent hair transplant surgery. This appears under his treatment experience (ประสบการณ์ในการรักษา) and is the procedure we link to his profile. In general, a hair transplant moves follicles from a permanent donor area, usually the back of the scalp, into areas that are thinning or bald. It is done under local anaesthesia as a day procedure, and the working day is long, often 6–8 hours. Because the supply of donor follicles is limited, much of the skill lies in planning: where to set a hairline that will still look natural if the surrounding hair keeps thinning, and how to spread a finite number of grafts to give the density that matters most to you.

Yanhee's English hair transplant page describes four approaches offered at the hospital: shaven FUE, non-shaven FUE, long-hair FUE and FUT (the strip method). That is a description of the hospital's service. Neither his profile nor the centre page says which of these Dr. Akkrarash performs, or whether he performs all of them, so ask him which technique he would suggest for you and why. Our guide's view is that the surgeon's planning and the team's graft handling matter more than the name of the technique.

Patients should expect a slow result whoever performs the surgery. Transplanted hairs often shed between two and six weeks after the procedure, new growth usually begins at three to four months, and most of the final result shows at around 12 months, with the crown sometimes taking longer. Transplanted follicles are usually resistant to balding, but the native hair around them can continue to thin, which is why long-term planning belongs in the first conversation.

Hair and scalp disorders. His profile lists the treatment of hair and scalp disorders (รักษาโรคของเส้นผมและหนังศีรษะ) alongside transplant surgery. It does not name specific conditions or treatments, and we do not add any. The practical point is that not every kind of hair loss suits a transplant. In general, good candidates have enough healthy donor hair and a stable, diagnosed pattern of loss, and for women in particular a medical assessment of the cause comes first. Because his profile lists hair and scalp disorders next to transplant surgery, it is reasonable to ask him in the same consultation whether surgery is the right step now, later, or not at all.

Not documented on his profile. Beard transplants, eyebrow transplants, hairline lowering and other cosmetic operations are not listed for Dr. Akkrarash. Yanhee as a hospital offers a wide range of cosmetic and gender-affirming surgery through other surgeons, but a listing for the hospital is not a listing for him. If one of these is what you have in mind, say so in your request; our patient team will put the question to the hospital instead of guessing the answer.

A first consultation about a hair transplant is mostly diagnosis and planning. About cost and aftercare

• Can I have the estimated graft count and the price per graft, or the package price, in writing?
• What does the price include: medicines, aftercare products, the first wash, follow-up visits?
• How are problems handled once I am home? Yanhee says patients who have returned home can keep in touch through email coordination and send photo updates to the doctor, which matters for a result that takes around a year to show.

Language. Dr. Akkrarash's profile is published in Thai only and does not say which languages he speaks, so we do not list any. Yanhee itself says it provides interpreter and translator services to foreign patients without extra fees, places English-speaking coordinators at key points in the hospital, and assigns an interpreter on arrival to help with registration and go with the patient from department to department. Should you need interpreting in another language, say which one in your request so Yanhee can tell you what it can provide.

Before you travel. Yanhee runs an online pre-assessment at no charge, which one of its international coordinators reviews. For a hair transplant, that review, together with any scalp photos the team asks for, helps settle whether the trip makes sense before you pay for flights.

On arrival. Overseas patients check in at the International Counter on the hospital's first floor. Yanhee can arrange transfers from the airport to your hotel and on to the hospital at a charge, and its contact page names partner hotels that offer special rates when the stay is booked as part of a Yanhee package.

Paying. The hospital accepts cash in major currencies, credit and debit cards, and bank transfer.

How long to stay. Our hair transplant guide suggests planning around 3–5 days in Thailand: arrival, the procedure day, and a check or first wash before flying. In the first days, small scabs and redness are expected and washing follows the instructions you are given. Bring a loose hat, keep sun off the scalp and avoid heavy exercise. Yanhee says patients leave with a discharge summary, a medical certificate and a certificate confirming they are fit to fly; ask whether all three are issued after a day-case hair transplant, and keep whatever you receive for your own doctor at home.

Hair transplant planning depends heavily on what the doctor can see and on your hair-loss history, so a little preparation saves time. Send the basics with your request and hold anything more until the hospital asks for it.

With your request

• The concern you want to discuss: a receding hairline, thinning on top or at the crown, general thinning, or a scalp condition.
• The dates that suit you, and whether you hope to start remotely or would come straight to Yanhee.
• Your age, how long you have been losing hair, and whether it seems to be speeding up.

Photos, only if the team asks

If Dr. Akkrarash's team or Yanhee's international coordinators ask for photos, clear pictures in good light with dry hair are usually the most useful: the hairline from the front, the top of the head, the crown, both sides, and the back of the scalp where donor hair would come from. Keep your hair at its usual length unless told otherwise, and mention if you have recently cut or coloured it.
