Dr. Boonchai Thanyalakpark

Dr. Boonchai Thanyalakpark (Thai: นพ.บุญชัย ธัญลักษณ์ภาคย์) is an obstetrician-gynaecologist at Yanhee International Hospital in Bangkok. On its English site the hospital calls him a “Cosmetic Gynecologist” and gives three specialty labels: obstetrics and gynaecology, aesthetic gynaecology and urogynaecology. His specialist qualification, recorded on the Thai-language profile, is a diploma (วุฒิบัตร) in obstetrics and gynaecology, so it is worth being clear from the start that he is a gynaecologist and not a plastic surgeon.

Two Yanhee services name him. The first is the Pride Center, which handles Yanhee's gender-affirming operations; its female-to-male (FTM) team page describes him as “Cosmetic Gynecologist | Expert in Hysterectomy”. His part of that pathway is the removal of the uterus and ovaries, explained in our overview of hysterectomy and oophorectomy. The second is Yanhee's cosmetic gynaecology page, where he appears in a group of gynaecologists said to perform cosmetic gynaecology. That department offers labiaplasty, clitoral hood reduction, vaginal tightening (cosmetic vaginoplasty) and perineoplasty. The page does not say which doctor performs which operation, and it adds that the operating surgeon is confirmed at the consultation stage.

Most of his published training concerns gynaecologic endoscopy, that is, keyhole (laparoscopic) and hysteroscopic surgery. The record runs from a 2004–2005 fellowship at Siriraj Hospital to courses on laparoscopic hysterectomy, pelvic floor reconstruction and female urinary incontinence.

Beyond Yanhee, our searches turned up no second hospital, clinic or personal website in his name. Everything said here about Dr. Boonchai was read on Yanhee's English and Thai pages on 27 September 2026, and the checks behind it are described under provider research methodology.

Dr. Boonchai studied medicine at Chiang Mai University and qualified as a Doctor of Medicine. Yanhee's English profile dates the degree to 1996, while the Thai profile gives B.E. 2538, which is 1995. We show both because the two official pages differ.

He trained in obstetrics and gynaecology at Phramongkutklao College of Medicine from 1997 to 1999, which the English profile lists under “Specialty Training”. The Thai profile records a diploma (วุฒิบัตร) in obstetrics and gynaecology dated B.E. 2542 (1999), matching the end of that training; the awarding body is not given.

From 2004 to 2005 he completed a fellowship in gynecologic endoscopic surgery at Siriraj Hospital. The Thai profile describes the same qualification as a certificate in the use of endoscopes for gynaecological diagnosis and treatment, dated B.E. 2548 (2005). In 2005 he also made an observation visit to Germany to watch gynaecologic laparoscopic surgery; the host institution is not named.

The rest of his published record is continuing education, most of it short courses and workshops. Grouped by subject:

• Hysteroscopy (examining and treating the inside of the uterus with a camera passed through the cervix): the International Hysteroscopy Course on Diagnosis and Surgery at Rajavithi Hospital with the Royal Thai College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (2000), and Practical Hysteroscopy courses at Chulalongkorn University (2002) and at Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University (2004).

Read plainly, the record describes a gynaecologist with a formal fellowship and repeated further training in minimally invasive gynaecologic surgery, including a course specifically on laparoscopic hysterectomy. It does not show training in plastic surgery, or a course dedicated to cosmetic genital surgery or to gender-affirming care. Nor does it say which hysterectomy technique he uses for FTM patients, so that is a question to bring to the consultation.

Yanhee International Hospital, 2009 to the present. His English profile dates his role as a Cosmetic Gynecologist at Yanhee from 2009. Yanhee's Thai-language site files him under its OB-GYN Center (ศูนย์สูติ-นรีเวช). There is one inconsistency worth knowing about: the Thai directory of the cosmetic gynaecology centre (ศูนย์จุดซ่อนเร้น) names four other gynaecologists but not him, whereas the English cosmetic gynaecology page includes him.

Pride Center, FTM team. The Pride Center divides its gender-affirming work between specialists. On the female-to-male side, the hysterectomy is attributed to Dr. Boonchai, while two plastic surgeons are named for other stages: Dr. Chokchai Amornsawadwattana, described as “Expert in Top Surgery (Mastectomy)”, and Dr. Sukit Warathamrong, described as “Expert in Gender Reassignment Surgery (FTM)”. The same page lists ENT surgeon Dr. Ornouma Sriwanishvipat for voice change surgery and a second gynaecologist, Dr. Amnart Techowanich, for hormone management. A trans man planning more than one operation at Yanhee should therefore expect to meet several doctors, with Dr. Boonchai the one named for the gynaecological stage.

Before Yanhee: Suranaree Fort Hospital, 2000–2008. The “Medical Experience” list on his profile places him at Suranaree Fort Hospital for those years but gives no job title.

Memberships. Yanhee's profile names two professional bodies: the Royal Thai College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RTCOG) and the Thai Society of Gynecologic Endoscopists (TSGE). RTCOG offers no public member search and TSGE's website shows only its executive committee, so both memberships rest on the hospital's word alone. ThPRS, the Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Thailand, has no entry for him in its member collection; it is a body for plastic surgeons rather than gynaecologists.

Licence and publications. Neither Yanhee profile prints a Medical Council of Thailand licence number. An attempt on 27 September 2026 to reach the Council's doctor search at checkmd.tmc.or.th was refused by the site's security screen before his name could be entered, which leaves his registration unverified by us. The search is open to the public, and checking his name there yourself before travelling is a sensible step. PubMed lists no papers under the surname Thanyalakpark.

Each procedure link on this profile comes from a Yanhee page, but the evidence is not equally strong. The FTM hysterectomy is tied to Dr. Boonchai by name; the four cosmetic gynaecology procedures are tied to him only through the department's group listing. The general notes under each heading draw on our procedure guides and describe the operation, not his personal results.

Hysterectomy and oophorectomy for trans men

Of everything Yanhee publishes about him, this is the operation most directly linked to his name. Put simply, the hysterectomy takes out the uterus and the oophorectomy takes out both ovaries. Yanhee's female-to-male surgery page mentions two ways of doing this: TAHBSO, a total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, in which the uterus, both fallopian tubes and both ovaries are removed through an incision in the abdomen; and LAVH, a laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy.

Yanhee presents FTM surgery in stages, but its two pages order them differently. The Pride Center page lists chest masculinization (mastectomy), followed by hysterectomy and oophorectomy, followed by phalloplasty or metoidioplasty. The female-to-male surgery page instead groups the hysterectomy with chest surgery in its first stage. Treat the order as something to agree for your own plan at consultation. Our phalloplasty guide also mentions that a hysterectomy has often been done before, or early in, a phalloplasty pathway.

Four things patients commonly want to settle with the gynaecologist beforehand:

• Hormones. In general, once both ovaries are removed they no longer produce hormones, and testosterone therapy becomes the body's main supply of sex hormones. Ask how your testosterone should be handled around the operation and who will supervise it after you fly home.
• Fertility. After the uterus and ovaries are removed, carrying a pregnancy or using your own eggs is no longer possible unless eggs or embryos were frozen first. If there is any chance you will want that option, raise it before surgery dates are set.
• Assessment and documents. Across gender-affirming surgery, surgeons generally look to the eighth version of the WPATH Standards of Care, which calls for a documented assessment. What a hospital asks for before a hysterectomy varies, so ask Yanhee for its exact list. The Pride Center's published services include psychiatric consultations and hormone therapy.
• Hospital stay and recovery. We have not yet published a full guide to this operation, so this page gives no figures for nights in hospital or recovery time. Ask Yanhee what applies to the approach proposed for you.

Labiaplasty

As a general description, labiaplasty makes the inner lips (labia minora) smaller or changes their shape, and occasionally the outer lips (labia majora) too. Our labiaplasty guide describes two main techniques: an edge trim, which takes off the outer border, and a wedge resection, which cuts out a V-shaped piece so the natural edge stays in place. The guide gives the anaesthesia as local with sedation or general, usually without an overnight stay; overseas patients commonly spend 5–7 days in Thailand, and sex and tampons usually wait for about 4–6 weeks. Labia vary widely in size and shape, and tissue taken away cannot easily be put back, which is why our guide favours a conservative, carefully planned approach. Since Yanhee lists its cosmetic gynaecologists as a group, ask first whether Dr. Boonchai would be the operating surgeon.

Clitoral hood reduction

Clitoral hood reduction, in general, trims excess skin from the hood of tissue that covers the clitoris, and our labiaplasty guide notes that the two procedures are sometimes combined. We have not yet published a detailed guide to this operation, so questions about anaesthesia, recovery and whether to combine it with labiaplasty are best put to Yanhee. Ask too how the plan takes sensation into account: altered sensation appears among the possible risks in our labiaplasty guide.

Vaginal tightening (cosmetic vaginoplasty)

Yanhee's department page lists this as “Vaginoplasty (vaginal tightening)”. Its purpose is to tighten the vaginal canal. It is not the same operation as labiaplasty, nor as gender-affirming vaginoplasty, which no source links to Dr. Boonchai. His urogynaecology interest and his 2004 course in pelvic floor reconstruction are relevant background here. If you also leak urine or feel heaviness or a bulge in the vagina, say so: in general, those symptoms call for a pelvic floor assessment and may need more than a cosmetic operation.

Perineoplasty

Perineoplasty, in general, repairs or reshapes the perineum, the area of skin and muscle between the vaginal opening and the anus. Patients usually ask about it when this area has been stretched or scarred, for instance by childbirth, and it may come up alongside vaginal tightening. What he is not documented for

None of the sources we checked links Dr. Boonchai to chest surgery, phalloplasty, metoidioplasty or any male-to-female operation. Yanhee's Pride Center names other doctors for those.

Requests for Dr. Boonchai can be for an online consultation or for a face-to-face visit to Yanhee. Because the hospital also has a free online pre-assessment handled by its international coordinators, Yanhee will tell you whether a remote first step means talking to Dr. Boonchai himself or starts with that pre-assessment. In general, an online consultation helps you judge whether a procedure and Yanhee's pathway suit you; for pelvic and genital surgery, the plan is normally confirmed only after a physical examination.

His English profile publishes weekly clinic hours: Monday and Tuesday 7:00–15:00, Thursday and Friday 7:00–17:00, Saturday 8:00–17:00, and nothing on Wednesday or Sunday. Hospitals revise schedules, so treat these hours as a guide until Yanhee confirms a slot.

Questions about hysterectomy and oophorectomy

• Which approach would you use for me: abdominal (TAHBSO), laparoscopically assisted vaginal (LAVH) or something else, and what decides it?
• Will both ovaries, both fallopian tubes and the cervix be removed?
• Would the hysterectomy be a separate admission, or combined with chest surgery or a later genital stage? Which doctor leads each part?
• Which documents will the Pride Center ask me for, and can Yanhee arrange the assessment if I have none?
• What should happen to my testosterone before and after the operation, and who adjusts it later?
• Is it worth freezing eggs or embryos first?
• How many nights on the ward are likely, and what decides the earliest day I may board a plane?
• After the flight home, who at Yanhee answers my questions, and how is follow-up handled?

Questions about cosmetic gynaecology

• Yanhee lists its cosmetic gynaecologists together: will you personally carry out my operation?
• Which technique suits my anatomy, and how conservative will the reduction be?
• Is it safe to combine the procedures I am asking about in one operation?
• What anaesthesia do you use for this, and is it a day case?
• When can I go back to work, exercise, sex and tampons, and when may I fly?
• Should my urinary leakage or pelvic heaviness be assessed before anything cosmetic is done?

Before the appointment, jot down what bothers you and what outcome you want. Our labiaplasty guide cites the NHS in noting that many people who ask for labiaplasty have labia within the normal range; being open about your reasons and expectations helps the gynaecologist give you honest advice.

Dr. Boonchai's documented practice is entirely at Yanhee, whose English contact page gives the address as 454 Charansanitwong Road, Soi 90, Bang-O, Bangplad, Bangkok 10700. Its history began in 1984 with the Yanhee Polyclinic, an outpatient service, and the hospital now gives its size as 400 beds. Joint Commission International (JCI) shows Yanhee Hospital as accredited in its own online directory, under the Hospital Program, and the JCI certificate reproduced on Yanhee's website covers 13 March 2026 to 12 March 2029.

Yanhee's published support for patients from abroad, grouped by where you are in the trip:

• Before you fly: an online pre-assessment, free of charge, looked at by an international coordinator; paid transport linking the airport, your hotel and the hospital; and discounted rooms at partner hotels if they are part of a Yanhee package.
• On arrival: you register at the first-floor International Counter and are given an interpreter who goes with you from one department to the next. Yanhee does not charge extra for interpreting and says English speakers are stationed at key points in the building, but it does not name any other interpreting language.
• During an admission: liaison staff for international patients call on inpatients every day, and the hospital helps with a visa extension if treatment means a longer stay.
• Paying: bank transfer, a credit or debit card, or cash in any of the major currencies.
• Leaving: a discharge summary, a fit-to-fly certificate and a medical certificate.
• Back home: the hospital keeps in touch by email, and you can send photos for the doctor to look at.

According to Yanhee, a package for most cosmetic procedures usually bundles the doctor's fee, medicines, room, nursing, meals and theatre costs. Whether an FTM hysterectomy is priced the same way is not stated, so request, in writing, a breakdown of what any quote includes and leaves out before you compare it with others. This page carries no prices for Dr. Boonchai.

We have no published figures yet for hysterectomy or the other cosmetic gynaecology operations, so ask Yanhee for an estimate and choose a flexible return ticket. Combining FTM stages in one trip needs a timetable that covers every stage. Bring the discharge summary and any operation notes home for your own doctor.

Nothing beyond the request itself is needed at first; Yanhee's team will say when it wants records or photos. Having the following ready shortens the first conversation with Dr. Boonchai.

For hysterectomy and oophorectomy

• your testosterone details: the preparation, the dose and the date you started
• gynaecological history, for example heavy or irregular bleeding, pelvic pain, endometriosis, fibroids or ovarian cysts, with any recent pelvic ultrasound or scan reports
• earlier abdominal or pelvic surgery, including caesarean sections and laparoscopies; in general, previous operations can influence which approach suits you
• existing assessment or support letters, with the name of the clinician who signed each one
• where you are in your wider plan: chest surgery done or planned, interest in phalloplasty or metoidioplasty, and any decision on egg freezing
• any long-term illness, the tablets and supplements you take, allergies, a history of bleeding or clots, and whether you smoke

For labiaplasty, clitoral hood reduction, vaginal tightening or perineoplasty

• the change you are hoping for and why: discomfort, irritation, appearance or a sense of looseness
• pregnancies and births, including vaginal deliveries, tears or episiotomy stitches, and the date of your latest delivery
• urinary leakage, pelvic heaviness or bowel symptoms
• past genital or pelvic operations and their reports
• medical conditions, medicines and allergies
